HOW TO LEAVE TOWN - CAR SEAT HEADREST This albums better than it should be if that makes sense. I think it serves as the best of will toledos lo fi stuff, which makes sense as it was the last album he recorded before csh got other band members and expanded to a studio setting. Regardless I really like the long brooding songs on this album like the opener. In usual csh fashion the lyrics are the main spectacle here, they’re depressing but also flow like pure poetry. A few of my favorite csh songs are on here too. Great music for depressed faggots
WORRY - JEFF ROSENSTOCK (relisten!) I’m not gonna list every album I relisten to on here but this one felt important. On a tangential note Jeff rosenstock has gotten me through some tough times and I think revisiting it is good for me. This album has some of the catchiest damn riff writing on it with lyrics that strike me to my core. I could honestly go on and on about it but I’ll just say this one has my high recommendation. Very very VERY worth checking out for yourself
THE CHRONIC 2001 - DR DRE I think for everything the original chronic did to be revolutionary and cutting edge this album doesn’t explore as much with invention and instead looks to perfection. Some of the best g funk and west coast style rap out there. Countless hits on it and really just songs that have cemented themselves so much in pop culture as well as internet culture in the two decades since this albums release. That being said I feel like overall as an album it’s a little less spectacular and doesn’t stick with me as much. It’s a good album, not really a great one but I did enjoy.
STREET FIGHTER 6 I like this game mechanically a lot, though there’s some little here and there stuff in the training mode that drives me a bit crazy when playing on controller. I like the character design but I need to get caught up on street fighter lore and play the arcade mode more but overall this games really impressive. Only thing I dislike is it has the most forgettable music street fighter has had in a long ass time
MEN IN BLACK I have so many weird qualms with this movie that ultimately boil down to its aged poorly and I don’t like it. This movie kinda blows man idk! It feels mean spirited and just not funny a lot of the time I’m kinda disappointed in it. There’s so much gross ugly cgi shit too I just did not like it
KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX Hooooooooly shit this is the game of all time just one of the thoroughly best things I’ve ever played and so influential to the time and culture from which it came out I just can’t get enough of it. This game is phenomenal. Truly just one of the best games I ever played I absolutely loved it
KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 DAYS Ngl I shotgunned all the cutscenes to this game in two sittings but despite that there are parts of it I like. Story wise it just builds up and provides context for 2 but seeing roxas’ side to the story is interesting and man. Bar for bar this game has my favorite cast in the game up to this point I looooooved the ice cream trio. I do dislike how the important cutscenes take place in two locations, the roof in twilight town/the tower in the world that never was get old quick. Overall I’m happy this game exists but it’s not like a must play or anything like 2 is
FETTI WAP - FETTI WAP genuinely just one banger after another what an influential album for the time. This was everywhere it was crazy. Gotta love it
THOSE DAYS ARE GONE - FREE THROW god what a good Emo album I can’t believe I’ve been sleeping on this one. I found it through an Instagram story of all things and loved the song I heard so I checked out the whole thing. Great songs for when your life feels like a mess so it’s really applying to me rn. I enjoyed this album a lot
SOMEWHERE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RIVER BETWEEN VEGA AND ALTAIR - LA DISPUTE holy shit oh my god this might be one of the best rock albums I’ve ever heard. The lyrics are so well written and soaked in emotion I had to open Wikipedia to see what inspired the album mid listen. Using an ancient Chinese folktale as a jumping off point the lyricist uses two divorces of real people he knows to create something so vivid and visceral all delivered in a spoken word off kilter rhythm with a notable absence of rhyme scheme and it all just combines to be so damn interesting!!!! The music doesn’t slouch either the guitars and drums have so much energy throughout the whole album with the percussion being especially standout. I can’t recommend this album enough if you like Emo or like post hardcore please please please check this album out it’s kinda a masterpiece
WELCOME HOME WARRIOR EP - CLIPPING I liked this ep generally speaking! It’s so short I don’t have a ton of thoughts on it but I feel like for me clipping can have a hard time finding a balance between sounds that are abstract to rap over while still being generally enjoyable to listen to but this ep (much like wriggle, clippings other notable ep that’s my favorite work by them) this project strikes a really good balance. I can’t say for sure this will be something I come back to a lot but i definitely enjoyed it nonetheless
SREMMLIFE - RAE SREMMURD This albums so of the time it came out but despite that I think it’s undeniable it still hits. It has a couple tracks that miss for me but overall an undeniable party experience it just has a great vibe to it overall
THA CARTER III - LIL WAYNE (relisten!) I have mixed feelings on this album but that being said I think I like this more than I did a couple days ago before this relisten. A couple songs definitely grew on me and the singles are always gonna be airtight with lil wayne of this era even if he’s gonna be insistent on saying some weird shit. It’s interesting but worth listening to if you’re into rap and you haven’t
HOWLS MOVING CASTLE It’s nermal and I’s 9 month anniversary today so we watched this to spend some time together : ) I grew up with this movie so I know I love everything about it but it was their first time watching it so that was kinda special for me. I love the way everything works out in this movie it’s beautiful. A really good time and a great experience together : )
READY - TREY SONGZ I don’t even really know what to say about this album it’s kinda unnecessary in many places but also it’s hilarious in others. This was mostly teos doing. L O L smiley face
CRACK THERAPY 3 - RXKNEPHEW This album is thoroughly crazy but in such a way it makes me appreciate rap as an art form just a little bit more because it’s like wow you truly can rap about anything. You can loop a beat three times if you want. You can make a song about how you and your girlfriend love robbing people together. The world is your oyster
ARIZONA BABY - KEVIN ABSTRACT
Honestly I feel similarly to the doechii album where I’d like to listen to this a couple more times before I make an official call on how I feel about it but as of rn I like certain tracks and others can get kinda lost in the moodiness of it all for me. But maybe as I grow more of an emotional bond with it I’ll feel otherwise. Overall a good reminder of the parts of brockhampton that I really enjoyed
X-MEN (1992) SEASON 3 This season was kinda a make or break point of this show for me as it covers the Phoenix saga which is one of the most beloved arcs in all of western comics. Overall I think it scrapes by, obviously because of it being a children’s tv show you can’t have Jean grey killing herself so it’s like okay we gotta have this be different from the comics somehow but I think the way they diverted from it all is really expertly done. My problem is that the dark phoenix saga absolutely should’ve been the end of the season having two standalone episodes after it feels so weird. But it’s a Saturday morning cartoon so I’ll cut it some slack. Overall a good watch
